TOUR ITINERARYThe Top End – by private charter, May to September 2010–2011. DAYS 1-3: DARWINHighlights – City sightseeing on the open-air bus “Tour Tub”; a scenic flight across Beagle Gulf to Bathurst Island; Aboriginal art and culture of the Tiwi people; the rituals associated with Pukumani Poles; sunset drinks and dinner on East Point at one of Darwin’s finest restaurants. DAYS 4-7: KAKADU & ARNHEM LANDHighlights – Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve on the wetlands of the Adelaide River; White Lily Billabong and Maguk (Barramundi Gorge); Nourlangie Rock, one of the oldest Aboriginal rock art and occupation sites in Kakadu; scenic floodplains alongside the spectacular Arnhem Land Escarpment to the Aboriginal community of Gunbalanya (Oenpelli); Injalak Hill rock art sites and Injalak Arts and Craft Centre; sunset billabong cruise; two days exploring remote Mt Borradaile, home to powerful Aboriginal cultural sites and rare flora/fauna; spectacular scenery and wildlife. A true wilderness expedition experience! Transport – Private GXL Land Cruiser. DAYS 8-10: COBOURG PENINSULAHighlights – Gurig Ganuk Barlu National and Marine Park; freshwater paperbark swamps and billabongs; barramundi fishing; clifftop “sundowners”; Cobourg Marine Park by boat; Port Essington to historic Victoria Settlement ruins; marine life such as dugong, dolphins, turtles, stingrays and crocodiles; guided walks from camp; Paspaley pearl farm; Port Bremmer wetlands area; untamed and close-to-extinct Banteng cattle. Transport – 4WD vehicles and boat. DAY 11: HOMEHighlights – Private charter flight over the Arafura Sea; transfer to domestic terminal in Darwin for onward flights.
